| David Young is Principal at David Young Law, a privacy and regulatory law counsel practice, and has been advising clients on privacy issues since the enactment of Canada’s private sector privacy laws. David advises both private and public sector organizations on all aspects of privacy law including compliance procedures and documentation, data sharing, employee privacy, personal health information, security, consent documentation, de-identification protocols and access to information.
David also advises on marketing matters including digital advertising, anti-spam, social media and food and drug law. His practice also includes corporate regulatory compliance. David is a co-author of Canadian Advertising and Marketing Law, published by Thomson Reuters and Marketing Communications Services Agreement, Commentary and Model Agreement published by the Association of Canadian Advertisers. David is a member of the Canadian Marketing Association’s Ethics and Standards Committee and is a member of the Digital Governance Council’s Technical Committee responsible for developing standards published by the Digital Governance Standards Institute. He is a past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Privacy and Access Law Section and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). David is recognized as a leading practitioner by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada. He is recognized as a Ranked Lawyer and Eminent Practitioner in the Advertising & Marketing and Privacy & Data Protection practice areas in the Chambers & Partners 2025 Canada Guide . David served as a member of the Ontario Joint Ministers’ Roundtable for the Ontario COVID-19 Health Data Platform (May 2020-February 2021). David is a director of the Canadian Helen Keller Centre, a residence and service provider for deaf-blind individuals. |
